Staging Your Home for a Sale
Before you print flyers or post an advertisement for your home on the Internet and in newspapers, there is one important thing that you should do first - stage your property.
Prepping up your house is important if you want to maximise its appeal to potential buyers. This is because by putting your home's best foot forward at the outset, it will more likely sell fast and for more value. So, before you do anything else - especially before taking photos for the advertisement - prepare all your tools and get started in staging your house. The following are some tips that will surely help you turn your home into an irresistible and marketable property.
First, disassociate yourself from your home. By this, we mean that you should let go of any emotions attaching you to the house. Disassociating comes with the act of removing all your personal belongings away, including family photographs, heirlooms and other artefacts that will make potential buyers feel like they are intruding into other people's property. The goal here is to make buyers think, "I can see myself living in this house" instead of, "I wonder what kind of family lives in here."
Next, when you are done depersonalising, proceed then into de-cluttering your space. Remove all the junk that you have not used for over a year, including books, knick-knacks and other stuff that potential new owners might not find useful. Also, take out pieces of furniture that hamper paths and walkways. A home on sale almost always looks better with less furniture. So, leave just enough furniture in each room to showcase the purpose of the space.
